Precautions when starting the diesel generator set for the first time

Before starting the operation of the diesel generator set, a series of measures must be taken to determine the actual technical status of the device. In the work list, the following tasks must be completed:

1. Check whether the battery is charged and connected correctly, taking into account the polarity.

2. Open the feeler gauge on the crankcase of the internal combustion engine, check the existing oil level, and fill it to the required amount if necessary.

3. After adding oil, the system pressure must be increased by pressing in the resolver that reduces the combustion chamber pressure and simplifies the crankshaft rotation, and then perform several starter starts until the low oil level signal indicator light goes out.

4. Check the antifreeze or water level.

5. Before starting the diesel power station, check whether there is fuel in the fuel tank.

6. After the fuel cock is opened, remove the air from the system. To do this, loosen the fuel pump nut 1-2 turns and, while opening the resolver, roll the starter until a steady flow of fuel without air bubbles occurs. Only after these operations are completed can the equipment be considered ready and the diesel power station allowed to start.
