  Excessive water temperature in a diesel generator set is a very common fault when using a generator set. When the water temperature is too high, it will cause the piston to get stuck, pull the cylinder, etc. It will also cause the viscosity of the lubricating oil to drop, affecting the power performance of the generator set. If you want to control the water temperature that is too high, you must use it within the allowable value. There are several reasons why the water temperature of diesel generator sets is too high.

1. Water radiator is blocked:

If the water radiator contains clogged materials or is installed upside down, it will cause the water temperature to rise and prevent the heat from dissipating. If the surface of the water radiator is mixed with engine oil, the sludge mixture of engine oil and dust, or catkins floating in the air in summer, will make it more difficult for the heat to be dissipated. It should be carefully pushed back to its original position with a thin steel piece. Then clean the radiator with a water gun. If you clean it with hot water and cleaning fluid, the effect will be better.

2. Improper coolant:

If the coolant is improperly selected or insufficient, its cooling performance will be affected. The operating temperature of the diesel generator set is very high. If the coolant is improper or insufficient, the temperature will rise rapidly. It is necessary to add coolant in time or select a suitable coolant.

3. Cooling water pump failure:

After the cooling water pump fails, the flow rate of the coolant is small, and there is more scale deposits in the water pump, which reduces the heat dissipation performance of the generator set and causes the temperature of the diesel engine oil to rise.

4. Overload operation:

When the generator set is overloaded, the heat will continue to rise, exceeding the heat dissipation capacity of the generator set. At the same time, the coolant temperature will also rise, causing the generator set to emit black smoke, noise and other malfunctions.

5. Thermostat failure:

When the thermostat is open at about 85, it means that the thermostat is in good working condition, and it will be fully open at 105. Its main function is to adjust the size circulation of the cooling system. The thermostat should be properly inspected by disassembling it and placing it in a container of warm water. Then put a thermometer in, slowly heat it from the bottom, and check the working status of the thermostat. If it does not reach 85 degrees open or 105 degrees fully opened, it means that the thermostat is faulty and the thermostat needs to be replaced.
